On Saturday, September 29, 2018, the National Lighthouse Museum, Staten Island, New York, in association with the Staten Island Creative Community and Creative Photography Guild will host the 3rdAnnual Lighthouse Point Fest from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
The Fest features local arts and crafts vendors, live music on the hour, food vendors, and crafts for kids. Free admission to the National Lighthouse Museum included.
Legendary Lighthouse Soup Contest will take place from 12 noon – 2 p.m.
Cost: Suggested donation to the National Lighthouse Museum $3 per person; Soup Contest $ 5 per person. All proceeds help support the NLM.
*Please note, there is no onsite parking. Festival attendees are encouraged to use public transportation or to use the municipal parking lots nearby (Impark with shuttle to the ferry or the Staten Island Courthouse Garage).
Candace was the US Lighthouse Society historian from 2016 until she passed away in August 2018. For 30 years, her work involved lighthouse history. She worked with the National Park Service and the Council of American Maritime Museums. She was a noted author and was considered the most knowledgable person on lighthouse information at the National Archives. Books by Candace Clifford include: Women who Kept the Lights: a History of Thirty-eight Female Lighthouse Keepers , Mind the Light Katie, and Maine Lighthouses, Documentation of their Past.
