More than $1 million has already been spent to save South Carolina’s Morris Island Lighthouse. According to Save the Light, Inc., board member Al Hitchcock, another $5 million will be needed over the next five years.
It’s been announced that the South Carolina state budget will allocate $175,000 to help the state-owned 184-year-old lighthouse.
“We think the lighthouse gives people hope when they see it,” Hitchcock said.
