Duluth Harbor North Pierhead Light in Duluth, Minnesota, will be conveyed under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000 (NHLPA). The NHLPA provides for disposal of historic lighthouses to eligible entities, which includes non-profit corporations.
This light station is being made available at no cost to eligible entities defined as federal agencies, state and local agencies, non-profit corporations, educational agencies, or community development organizations, for education, park, recreation, cultural, or historic preservation purposes.
Any eligible entity should submit a letter of interest by July 7, 2021.
Letters of interest should include:
• Name of property
• Name of eligible entity
• Point of contact, title, address, phone and email
• Non-profit agencies must provide a copy of their state-certified articles of incorporation or evidence that an application has been filed.
Eligible entities that submit a letter of interest will be sent an application by the National Park Service and given an opportunity to inspect the light station. Building inspectors and/or contractors may accompany the applicant on the inspection. The application is due within 90 days from the date of the scheduled site inspection. The National Park Service will review applications and may select an eligible entity to receive the light station. The U.S. General Services Administration will deed the light station to the selected steward.
