Heceta Head lens restoration team, April 2001

Seen here in this photo from the U.S. Lighthouse Society Archive, in April 2001, are (L to R), lampist Jim Woodward, J. Candace Clifford (at the time with the National Park Service), lampist Joe Cocking, and Gretchen Voeks of the National Park Service. They are inside the first-order Fresnel lens at Heceta Head Lighthouse in Oregon, which was beautifully restored at that time.

According to Joe Cocking: “Needless to say, active-duty and civilian members of the Coast Guard, employees of the National Park Service and dedicated representatives of the lighthouse community working in conjunction with Oregon State Parks personnel accomplished this ambitious and intense project. Without the splendid cooperation of all of these individuals, this multi-faceted project could not have been accomplished.”
